Long, Long Thoughts is a landscape series made on and near the shores of Casco Bay. After using H.W. Longfellow’s words to inspire my Evangeline project, I went back the well by taking cues from “My Lost Youth.” In this 1855 poem, Longfellow revisits his childhood in Portland, allowing the dreams and longings of boyhood to come back to him, painted against the backdrop of the beautiful town seated by the sea.
