Evangeline

Inspired by H.W. Longfellow’s epic 1847 poem, Evangeline explores the modern-day Acadian regions of Nova Scotia, Canada. The poet never visited Nova Scotia, but his vivid descriptions of the landscape, and the feelings of loss and desolation he evoked still haunt the region today. The decaying Victorian houses, deserted fishing ports, and desolate primordial landscapes—these are all verses in my own modern tale of Acadia.
