Mills

Inspired by Jack Kerouac’s first novel, The Town and the City, this series is a look at the mills and factories that were the driving force for growth in New England during the late 1800s and first half of the 1900s.

From Kerouac  “The textile factories built in brick, primly towered, solid, are ranged along the river and the canals, and all night the industries hum and shuttle.”
